Background
Manufacturer of cable TV hardware was having difficulty attaching circuit board to cast aluminum housing. During wave soldering operation the clearance holes in circuit board filled with solder. Solder was being removed in separate operation before assembly.
Solution
Recommended pan head TAPTITE® screws with “CA” gimlet point. The screw point breaks through the solder in clearance hole and forms its own mating thread in aluminum casting.

Eliminated separate operations to remove solder and provided low driving torque to eliminate worker fatigue on assembly line.
