Problem
Pre-threaded weld nuts were often clogged with paint, primer and weld splatter. This condition along with difficult operator accessibility and component alignment caused machine screw bolts to cross thread and/or stall.
Solution
TAPTITE® induction hardened thread-rolling screws into non-threaded steel weld nuts. Typically thread rolling screws form threads regardless of the presence of paint & weld splatter in the non-threaded hole. Thread rolling screws can not cross thread, as there are no internal threads upon initial insertion. Thread rolling screws are more adaptable to less than ideal conditions that make it difficult to present the fastener to the hole on axis.
Customer Benefit
In-place cost is lowered due to the elimination of tapping the nut and due to improved assembly line productivity.
