Our Registered Trademarks, properly used, help assure end-users that they are buying and using genuine licensed products, not counterfeit alternatives. We solicit your cooperation to follow the “Correct Trademark Usage Guide” which follows to protect our trademarks, because they are valuable forms of REMINC/CONTI intellectual property.
Our licensed products’ trademarks are presently registered in 32 countries worldwide. We maintain these registrations so that our licensees can use them in association with genuine TAPTITE® and REMFORM® fasteners. In addition, their authorized use is carefully monitored by us to prevent infringers from using any of our marks when selling counterfeit parts. For many reasons, it is important that our trademarks are displayed and used properly in marketing literature, websites, packaging, and all other printed materials or electronic forms.

Making Proper Trademark Use Automatic
(or ways that your computer can make your life easier)
Most companies use trademarks to identify, or specify, products and services. Registered trademarks are followed by the “®” symbol, while non-registered trademarks are followed by the “™” symbol. Of the trademarks that your company uses, remembering which ones should be followed by the “®” symbol and which one should be followed by the “™” symbol can be difficult. However, your word processing program can automate this chore to simplify trademark use.
The instructions that follow are for Microsoft® Word software, since it is likely that this is the most commonly used word processing program globally.
MS Word a key feature that can automate text entry, called Autocorrect. Autocorrect is typically used to correct common spelling errors and simplify the insertion of some common characters. You may have noticed it correct “hte” to “the”, or correct other common errors automatically as you type. The following instructions explain how to use Autocorrect to place an “®” or “™” symbol after the appropriate trademark and capitalize the trademark text.
USING AUTOCORRECT
Following is a way to program Autocorrect to treat misuse of a trademark, such as “taptite” as a spelling error and correct it to proper trademark use. Let’s create an Autocorrect entry that will change “taptite” to “TAPTITE®”. Therefore, every time we wish to have “TAPTITE®” in a document, all we need to do is type “taptite”.
Open up a blank (new) document in MS WORD and click on “windows icon” at the left top of screen. Choose Word Options from the lower right of the drop down menu.
Now choose Proofing and then Autocorrect Options…. A menu box appears. The first entries in the white box with a scroll bar on the right are likely to begin with (c) and (r). Click on the line that has (r) and ® on the same line. These characters now appear in the boxes with the headings Replace and With above them. Since the (r) is hi-lighted in the Replace box, type “taptite”. Now point your mouse before the “®” symbol in the With box and type “ TAPTITE” prior to the ® symbol . The Replace box should now show TAPTITE®. Click the Add button and then the OK button.
Now let’s try it! Type “taptite” and press the space bar - notice the “taptite” changes to “TAPTITE®” automatically. Even if you use capitals and type “TAPTITE”, Autocorrect will change the entry to “TAPTITE®”. Therefore, I recommend that you use lower case letters in the Replace box for almost all entries.
Want to go a step further? Try the above programming procedure again, only this time instead of typing “taptite”, type simply “tt”. Now typing only two letters and pressing the space bar will result in “TAPTITE®” appearing.
You can expand on this usage to include all the trademarks you typically use.
Some of the ones I have programmed include the following in the “Replace“ and “With“ Boxes
Replace With
Tt2k TAPTITE 2000®
tt TAPTITE II®
plastitep PLASTITE®
tt2ksp0 TAPTITE 2000® ”SP”™
Another way to create Autocorrect entries is to simply type all the common trademarks, with the appropriate “™” or “®” symbol after the name. Shut off automatic spell checker (if you have it turned on) and then hi-light the first name in the list and click on “Autocorrect.” Note that the hi-lighted name appears automatically in the “With” box. Now type a suitable shortcut in the “With” box. Every time you type the abbreviation in a document, the associated trademark with the correct symbol will appear afterwards. Press the “Enter” key.
I’ll finish this article with my commonly used Autotext entry, I’ll simply type “BR-JR”, hit Enter and I’ll get….
